Program Objectives:
Tadamon is currently working with BP Egypt, Vodafone and the Apache Corporation to channel resources to our network members but we cannot do this without ensuring accountable, transparent and responsive practices on the part of the specific network CBOs.
The objective of this workshop is to highlight the importance of these Good Governance Practices in NGO management. An exercise/group activity will be conducted on how we as a capacity building organization can mobilize resources to ensure transparent, accountable and responsive practices from within our network. We want to understand the resources that need to be developed, for example access to accountants or information sharing between different community groups facing the same problems or even website development. Good governance, transparency, accountability, and responsiveness all lead to more effective and empowering projects. We will discuss the main features of the concept, the issues that the absence of good governance has raised for NGO leaders, and demonstrate how these good governance approaches can be used effectively to empower an NGO as well as the people that it serves. Communal divisions and lack of resources can no longer be an excuse to ignore practices of Good Governance.
Noted Community Organizer, Ms. Fatima Idris will be the key facilitator.
